"Legend" is a side-scrolling hack and slash beat 'em up video game developed by Arcade Zone and initially published by Seika Corporation in April 1994 in North America. The reception for "Legend" was mixed upon its debut on the Super NES. While the game's graphics garnered praise, its gameplay was often critiqued for its repetitiveness and lack of depth. While no direct sequel emerged, Toka fashioned a remake titled "Legend" for the PlayStation. In 2015, the original game saw a Microsoft Windows port by the independent developer and publisher Piko Interactive. Although a spiritual successor named Konan was in the works for the Atari Jaguar, it was ultimately abandoned before completion.

Carlo Perconti and Lyes Belaidouni, veterans of the gaming industry, established Arcade Zone after their shared preference for action-oriented titles led them to depart from their former positions. With their debut game "Legend," they aimed to create an innovative beat 'em up experience, drawing inspiration from classic titles and their own vision.

Synopsis:

Perconti and Belaidouni assumed full responsibility for "Legend's" development, working rapidly over a span of two to three months. Despite limitations in resources, the duo crafted the game from scratch, without financial backing or official Nintendo development tools. Belaidouni's artwork, created using Deluxe Paint on Amiga, and Perconti's programming expertise formed the core of the game's design. "Legend" was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show alongside other notable titles, capturing attention from the gaming community.

The game premiered in North America in April 1994, published by Seika Corporation, followed by a European release through Sony Electronic Publishing later that year. Piko Interactive's 2015 Microsoft Windows port brought the title to a modern audience, with a subsequent worldwide re-release of the original Super NES version by the same publisher in 2017.
